NAHCO Explains N4.6b Turnover, More Clients In Six Months

For the 2018 half year, the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company of (NAHCO) Plc recorded a turnover of N4.64billion, representing  25 per cent increase when compared to the same period in previous year.
 The ground handling company has also within the period attracted more clients to its fold, thereby retaining its status as a  leader in the sub-sector.
 A statement by Mr. Tayo Ajakaye, the spokesman of NAHCO, said that the group had posted a N3.71bn turnover in the same period in 2017.
In the current turnover, Ajakaye said the profit before tax stood at N500.97m as against N203.08m reported as at half year 2017, representing a 147 per cent increase.
He added that profit after tax for the half year 2018 stood at N418.57m, which was a 137 per cent increase over the N176.32m reported for the same period in 2017.
Commenting on the recent additional clients to the company, Ajakaye said it signed a series of new contracts with both local and international airlines.
Some of the airlines in the local scene according to Ajakaye included Max Air, which recently commenced operations from Lagos and Kano and handling of Hajj operations for Med—View Airline, one of the largest operators in the country.
The ground handling company he emphasised now handles Air Peace and Aero World, delivering service to the delight of the airlines. NAHCO he said is also handling hajj operations of Flynas, a foreign carrier.
He also recalled that that NAHCO, in February 2018 began handling the Rwandan international airline, Rwandair, providing ground handling service for the fast rising operator at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
Speaking on the strides achieved in recent times by the company, Mr. Idris Yakubu, the Managing Director of NAHCO said it was as a result of growing faith in the new management that had superintended the affairs of the company during the period.
He said: “We are pleased with the patronage of our valued clients, the airlines and the agents, as well as the contributions of our hardworking and dedicated staff to this very positive result. Management is committed to staff welfare and will continue the negotiation of the staff condition of service, and conclude before the current booklet expires end September 2018.

Yakubu further urged shareholders to look forward to sustained profit performance at year end, on the back of the strong showing of the first half of 2018.
He said the management and board were pleased with the progress made by the company in sustaining earnings, profit and operating performance in its business during the year, maintaining that the company had embarked on initiatives, which had helped it to consolidate its leadership position in the industry
