The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has placed its female officers firmly in the spotlight as it joined the global community to commemorate the International Women’s Day, celebrating their expanding influence in national security, trade facilitation and institutional leadership.
Marked under the theme “Give to Gain,” this year’s celebration highlights the Service’s deliberate effort to empower women across both operational and strategic roles.
Though widely perceived as a male-dominated agency, the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, has fostered an inclusive and enabling environment that supports the professional growth of women while promoting work–life balance within the Service.
Under his leadership, women now occupy key strategic positions in the organisation. These include the Deputy Comptroller-General in charge of Finance, Administration and Technical Services (FATS), regarded as the second-in-command, as well as DCGs overseeing the Tariff and Trade and ICT/Modernisation departments.
