The Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) has commended the captain and crew of its chartered vessel, AKTORAS, for carrying out a remarkable life-saving mission during a routine operation off the coast of Bermuda on November 5.
According to the company, what began as an ordinary voyage quickly transformed into an extraordinary act of humanity after the vessel received an emergency alert from the Rescue Coordination Centre (RCC) Bermuda about a missing kayaker.
Responding without hesitation, the AKTORAS crew immediately initiated a Search and Rescue (SAR) operation, scanning the surrounding waters with vigilance and urgency. Their swift and professional actions paid off — they located the distressed kayaker drifting helplessly at sea.
The crew successfully pulled him to safety and provided warmth, care, and medical attention, ensuring his wellbeing until further assistance arrived.
NLNG described the act as a powerful demonstration of the company’s values, noting that compassion, courage, and respect for human life remain central to its operations.
“This act reflects who we are at NLNG — a company guided by compassion, courage, and a deep respect for human life,” the company said, adding that the captain and crew of AKTORAS deserve the highest commendation for their bravery, professionalism, and humanity.
The organisation reaffirmed that for NLNG, safety is not just a priority — it is part of its identity.
