Ogunlana Assumes Duty As Lagos Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Office

The newly appointed Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Office – Office of the Secretary to the Lagos State Government (SSG), Ms. Toyin Rahmat Ogunlana, has officially assumed duty with a firm call for discipline, professionalism, and teamwork among staff. Ogunlana resumed at the Cabinet Office following her swearing-in by Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu alongside other Permanent Secretaries on October 10th, 2025.
She was received on behalf of the Secretary to the State Government, Barr. ‘Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, by the Director, Administration and Human Resource, Mrs. Omotayo Gbajabiamila-Olamona, and members of staff.
In her remarks, Mrs. Gbajabiamila-Olamona described the new Permanent Secretary as an amiable leader and administrator par excellence whose wealth of experience will greatly benefit the Office and the State Government.
Expressing gratitude for the warm reception, Ogunlana pledged to consolidate on the achievements of her predecessors and elevate the operations of the Cabinet Office to a higher level, saying “I will strengthen communication, teamwork, and collaboration across all Departments and Units to support the Government’s vision of #Greater Lagos Rising,”.
She added that while she is approachable and people-oriented, she remains firm on discipline and productivity.
“I am soft on people, but I do not compromise on standards. The PS, therefore, pledged to uphold professionalism, staff welfare, and efficiency in service delivery”.
Ogunlana also highlighted her commitment to the digitisation of records and the prompt escalation of Cabinet decisions to ensure effective governance.
The ceremony also witnessed the presentation of the Handover Notes of the former Permanent Secretary, Mr. Kehinde Farouk Gbajumo, to Ms. Ogunlana.
It was later rounded off with a tour of departments, where the new Permanent Secretary interacted with staff at their duty posts.
Before her appointment, Ms. Ogunlana served as Director-General, Lagos State Records and Archives Bureau (LASRAB).
With over two decades of experience in the Lagos State Civil Service, she has held key positions in Human Resources, Public Administration, and Project Management across various Ministries and Agencies.
A certified member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) and the Institute of Strategic Management, Ogunlana holds academic qualifications in Islamic Studies, Mass Communication and Business Administration in Human Resource and Personnel Management.
