PCNGi To Inaugurate CNG Refuelling Stations In Abuja, Abia, Enugu, Kogi, Ekiti, Others

The Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGI) has concluded plans to inaugurate new CNG refuelling stations across five states and the federal capital territory (FCT).
In a statement on Friday, Kenechukwu Chukwu, head of stakeholder management and public engagement for PCNGI, disclosed that the stations will be commissioned between April 25 and May 29 in Enugu, Abuja, Lokoja, Kogi State, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State and Abia.
According to him, the new stations will enhance intra-state transportation, particularly from key traffic hubs such as Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, and Kano.
Chukwu added that the inauguration of the new stations is part of an array of initiatives PCNGI is “rolling out to Democracy Day” to accelerate Nigeria’s CNG adoption nationwide.
“As part of a series of events marking the important strides the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has made in bringing affordable transportation and enabling domestic utilization of gas for industrialization, the Presidential CNG Initiative is pleased to announce a series of important events demonstrating the administration’s commitment to the ongoing CNG Revolution. The specific milestone events lined up are as follows,” the statement reads.
“April 4, 2025—Signing Ceremony of Arete Mini-LNG Project Investment of $6 million to drive the expansion of CNG to the North.
“April 7, 2025—Presidential Brief on PCNGI Progress to date.
“April 11, 2025—Groundbreaking agreement between PCNGI and Public Sector Unions on CNG Conversions to be delivered to 200,000 public sector employees.
“April 15, 2025—Phase 1 Flagoff of the roll-out of Tricycle Deployment program with NACTOMORAS/ Fed Ministry of Youths.
“April 25, 2025-May 29, 2025—Commissioning of Critical Last Mile CNG Distribution Refueling Stations in Enugu, FCT, Lokoja, Port Harcourt, Ado Ekiti and Abia states, expanding the nationwide footprint of CNG and enabling intra-state transport from key traffic centres of Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt and Kano.
“Week of May 5, 2025—Handover of Buses and Launch of Targeted Conversion Programs to servicemen of Nigerian Army.
“Week of May 19—Launch of Security Services Train the Trainer Program for CNG Conversion of Nigerian Army, Navy, Air force and Police Workshop Technicians.
“May 2025—Autogas Framework Operationalization to enable seamless supply at discounted inlet prices for the Auto CNG Sector in collaboration with GACN and NGML.

Chukwu said PCNGI efforts in the past year have been “transformative”, adding that the programmes demonstrate its commitment to a rapid transition of the Nigerian transportation sector with CNG.
