Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO) Plc has acquired eco-friendly ground support equipment to boost its operations.
A statement on Tuesday described SAHCO as the “first Aviation Ground Handling Company in Nigeria to acquire this latest model of technology”.
According to the statement, the electric tractors require little maintenance and use rechargeable batteries, “thereby making them cost effective compared to diesel powered tractors.
“They are also ergonomically designed which helps with making maneuvering on the ramp easy which is essential to provide safe, speedy and efficient services to clients”.
The new fleet of Ground Handling Equipment, manufactured by Charlatte Manutention, a worldwide number one equipment manufacturer based in France are fully electric, “making them very eco-friendly as the world continue to battle global warming. The French made electric tractors are all designed with strong reliable componentsto stand any type of climate”.
SAHCO explained that the tractors are built to be rugged, reliable and suitable for the rugged terrain of the Nigerian climate.
Also, the zero-emission ground support equipment are environmentally friendly machines that do not emit air pollutants and are noiseless to the users.

Recently, the Engineering and Maintenance unit of the company built solar powered, non-contact handwashing/sanitizing stations from locally sourced materials. These stations which can be seen at the SAHCO headquarters and also at SIFAX Group offices, are equipped with sanitizingdispensers, handwashingunits, tap paper towel dispenser all foot pedal powered to ensure minimal contacts from users.
