Sanwo-Olu Mourns Akran Of Badagry

Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the Oba of Badagry and Permanent Vice Chairman of the Lagos State Council of Obas and Chiefs, Oba Babatunde Akran, Wheno Aholu Menu-Toyi I.
The respected monarch, who joined his ancestors at the age of 89, reigned on the throne of Badagry for nearly 49 years, serving his people with wisdom, humility and an unwavering sense of duty.
Governor Sanwo-Olu described Oba Akran as a distinguished traditional ruler whose reign was marked by peace, unity and steady development.
He noted that the late monarch, a former journalist, brought clarity, balance and insight into leadership, combining a deep respect for tradition with a forward-looking approach to community growth.
Throughout his long reign, Oba Akran played a significant role in uniting the people of Badagry, promoting the town’s rich history and cultural festivals, and championing initiatives aimed at improving the wellbeing of his subjects.
The governor extended his heartfelt condolences to the royal family, the people of Badagry and all those who were touched by the life and legacy of the late monarch.
He prayed that God grants them the strength to bear the loss and that the soul of Oba Babatunde Akran rests in perfect peace.
