The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is set to unveil two innovative tools — a USSD service and “ISA Audio” — intended to broaden access to market information and boost investor engagement across Nigeria.
City Business News reports that the launch will take place at the upcoming Quarterly Capital Market Committee (CMC) meeting on December 8 at the Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, with a press interface slated for December 9, 2025.
At the CMC meeting, the SEC and stakeholders in the capital market will discuss pressing issues central to sustainable market growth, including global macroeconomic dynamics and their impact on domestic markets, as well as strategies for cross-border financial integration in Africa. A key focus will also be unlocking pension-fund investments, boosting market liquidity, and stimulating innovation via regulatory reforms, the Commission said.
Another major item on the agenda is a review of the existing Capital Market Master Plan (CMMP).
As the 2025 CMMP reaches sunset, the CMC will assess past achievements and chart a strategic roadmap for the 2030 CMMP framework.
An additional session will examine the implications of Nigeria’s recent tax-reform legislation for capital-market efficiency and investor confidence.
The CMC — which brings together the SEC, market operators, trade groups, and other key stakeholders — serves as a vital platform for dialogue, feedback, and shaping the future of Nigeria’s capital markets. The December meeting is expected to draw CEOs and senior executives from registered capital-market firms, including brokers, investment advisers, custodians, and fund/portfolio managers.
With the introduction of the USSD service and ISA Audio, the SEC aims to lower barriers to information, enabling wider participation and reinforcing the capital market’s role in fostering inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
