Shippers’ Council Donates Equipment, Relief Materials To Orphanage, Hospital In Jos

The Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) has donated hospital equipment and relief materials to Health Centre and an Orphanage in Jos, Plateau State.

The Executive Secretary of the Council, Hassan Bello, while presenting the items in Jos on Thursday,  explained that the gesture was part of the council’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)  which was geared toward strengthening healthcare services and succour to orphans in the state.

Bello, who was represented by the NSC North-Central Zonal Director, Mrs Okoluwe, said that the council placed importance on its corporate social responsibility programme.

The NSC boss said:“The council’s CSR is always targeted at the grassroots with a view to touching lives at the base of the society.

“We moved round and observed that these two facilities need help and we had to swing into action to help them.

“Our job does not stop at regulating shipment in the country, our other job is to help the needy in society, we do this annually, and we will not stop,” he said.

He said that the council had contributed optimally to the economic development of the nation and also facilitated the establishment of critical infrastructure in the country, among others.

Items presented to the Dadin Kowa Comprehensive Health Centre, Jos South, were hospital beds, water proof mattresses, blankets, rechargeable fans, lamps, deep freezer, pressing irons, among other items.

At the House of Recab Orphanage, items presented include, a generator set, washing machine, pressing iron, fans, refrigerator and food items.

Responding, Medical Superintendent of the health centre, Dr Florence Alege, thanked the council for the gesture,while promising that the items would be used for the benefit of the patients.

Similarly, The Acting Director of the RECAB home, Mr Anthony Toyin in a goodwill message, stated that the items came at the time that the home needed them most.nan.
