

As part of measures to foster inter-agency collaboration, the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) has partnered the Nigeria Customs Service (NSC) to facilitate a workshop programne on Authorized Economic Operation (AEO) for the Council’s operation officers.
In his opening remarks, the Executive Secretary/CEO, NSC, Dr. Akutah Pius Ukeyima represented by the Director of the Council’s Consumer Affairs Department, Mr. Celestine Akujobi, harped on the importance of the AEO initiative in trade facilitation, while rallying on the staff to utilize the opportunity given by the Customs.
Akutah encouraged participants to engage actively in the programme, emphasizing that the event is not just about raising awareness, but also about collecting valuable feedback and insights that would contribute to the success of the AEO initiative.
In his presentation, ASC B.A. Ghali, a member of the AEO Technical Working Group, highlighted the objectives of the AEO Initiative, focusing on promoting compliance and boosting Nigeria’s competitiveness in the global market.
According to him, one of the core goals of the AEO programne is to reduce the challenges that contribute to high costs in cross-border business operations by streamlining processes and ensuring faster trade facilitation.
