Czech car manufacturer Skoda has names its first all-electric SUV, Enyaq. As the brand claims, the name is derived from the Irish name Enya, meaning the source of life.
Series production of this model is expected to commence by the end of 2022 and it will be retailed under the automaker’s iV sub-brand.
The SUV will be based ion Modular Electrification Toolkit (MEB), the dedicated EV platform of the company. As Skoda claims, the E in the nomenclature signifies the electric powertrain.
Skoda also claims that it expects all-electric and plug-in hybrid models will account for 25 per cent of all vehicle sales by 2025. For the development of electrified vehicle fleet, Skoda will invest two billion euros by 2021, claims the car brand.
