Volkswagen has unveiled the all-new 2022 Taos in the United States market. The German automaker introduced the compact Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) in a bid to double-up its SUV strategy.
The 2022 Taos is set to be smallest SUV of the automaker to be offered in the US Market. The SUV is expected to boast a very reasonable price tag too.
The 2022 Volkswagen Taos most of its design language from the Tiguan and the Atlas Cross Sport. The Taos boasts a bold front end with a sculpted hood and LED headlamps that resemble the Atlas Cross Sport. The distinctive side profile with strong character lines and the SUV’s silhouette resembles the Tiguan. All in all, the 2022 Taos comes with the classic Volkswagen DNA.
When it comes to the engine, the 2022 Taos borrows its 1.5-litre EA211 turbocharged 4-cylinder engine from the Volkswagen Jetta. The engine churns out a maximum power output of 160 PS and offers a peak torque of 250 Nm. The engine is coupled with an 8-speed AMT in the front-wheel drive variant. The 4Motion all-wheel drive variant gets a 7-speed DCT.
The 2022 Taos tries to add a premium fit and finish with the dual-tone seats. To offer a decent cabin experience, the SUV offers 8-way adjustable driver seat, two-zone climate control, heated steering wheel and ventilated front seats. The SUV gets the Volkswagen Digital Cockpit, Volkswagen Car-Net in-car WiFi, 8-inch MIB3 touchscreen infotainment system and voice control.
The 2022 Volkswagen Taos comes with IQ.DRIVE driver assistance system with features like collision warning, autonomous braking, blind spot monitor, lane assist, cruise control, park distance control and much more.
Offered in 3 trims, the 2022 Volkswagen Taos is expected to hit the US markets in late 2021.Reuters
