The National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) has received commendation from Nigerian youths for its impactful contributions to youth development and skills acquisition, particularly within the automotive sector.
The accolades were delivered on January 27, 2026, during a gathering of young Nigerians who have benefited from various NADDC training programmes, including its flagship initiative on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) retrofitting systems.
Leading the youth delegation, the Special Assistant to the President on Youth Initiatives, Hon. Dr. Titilope Gbadamosi, praised the Council for its strategic focus on equipping young Nigerians with relevant, future-ready skills aligned with the economic reform agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Dr. Gbadamosi highlighted NADDC’s role in training technicians and youths in CNG retrofitting, describing the programme as a critical contribution to the Federal Government’s target of converting 100,000 vehicles from Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to CNG. According to her, the initiative not only supports energy transition efforts but also creates sustainable employment opportunities for young Nigerians.
“Your efforts have changed many lives and clearly demonstrate that Nigerian youths are both willing and capable when given the right opportunities,” she said.
She further announced plans to deepen collaboration between NADDC and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), revealing that the NYSC Director-General has expressed interest in integrating CNG retrofitting skills into the Corps’ Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme.
Responding, NADDC Director-General, Otunba Oluwemimo Joseph Osanipin, expressed appreciation for the recognition and reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to empowering Nigerian youths with practical skills that support sustainable development.
“There is so much we can achieve together. We are eager to share more opportunities within the automotive ecosystem and to strengthen collaboration, especially with youths already operating in the automobile and automotive sector,” Osanipin stated.
The event highlighted NADDC’s growing role as a catalyst for youth empowerment, innovation and sustainability in Nigeria’s automotive industry, reinforcing its position as a key driver of skills development and economic transformation.
