The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Apapa Area Command, has recorded its highest-ever single-day revenue collection of ₦28.102 billion, generated within 24 hours on Tuesday, August 18, 2026.
The new record surpassed the Command’s previous daily revenue milestone of ₦20.1 billion, achieved in September 2025, shortly after the assumption of office of the Customs Area Controller (CAC), Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba.
The latest achievement comes barely weeks after the Command recorded an unprecedented ₦323 billion monthly revenue collection in July 2026, further underscoring the impact of ongoing reforms, improved compliance, enhanced trade facilitation, intelligence-driven interventions and more efficient digital Customs processes.
Speaking on the milestone, Comptroller Oshoba said the achievement went beyond revenue figures, noting that funds generated by the Service contribute significantly to government resources for financing critical public priorities, including infrastructure, security, education and healthcare.
He dedicated the achievement to the government and people of Nigeria, while commending the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, PhD, and the management team of the Service for their continued support for modernisation, automation and reforms aimed at improving Customs operations.
Oshoba also acknowledged the contributions of compliant importers, exporters, licensed Customs agents, other stakeholders and Nigerians who provide actionable intelligence to the Service.
He stressed that every compliant transaction contributes to national development, urging stakeholders to continue supporting legitimate trade and compliance with Customs regulations.
According to the CAC, a stronger revenue base provides government with greater capacity to respond to the needs of citizens while creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.
Oshoba, however, charged officers and men of the Command not to become complacent following the latest record, but to regard the achievement as a greater responsibility to deliver more.
He emphasised that revenue collection must go hand in hand with trade facilitation, professionalism, transparency and respect for stakeholders.
The CAC directed personnel to resolve legitimate disputes promptly and ensure that Customs procedures do not unnecessarily hinder lawful businesses, stressing the need to sustain the momentum while maintaining a balance between revenue generation and efficient trade facilitation.
