BMW Group has announced that its sales grew in November 2019 to 225,662 units, up 1.4 per cent compared to the same month last year.
The German automobile group attributes the high demand for electrified vehicles behind the growth momentum. The electrified vehicles from the group have registered 17,480 units of sales, up 18.4 per cent from November 2018.
The BMW brand alone has registered 194,690 units last month, up 2.9 per cent compared to the same month in 2018. The automaker claims that this is due to the significant growth in the US and China markets, where it sold 34,280 units and 68,366 units respectively. BMW has registered 7.6 per cent and 12.1 per cent growth in these two markets respectively.
As the automaker further claims, substantial growth in the sales for BMW 3 Series sedan and Touring have helped it to post an overall growth in global retail number.
Commenting on this sales performance, Pieter Nota, member of the Board of Management of BMW AG responsible for Customer, Brands and Sales, said, “After renewed growth in November, we continue to approach a new record for the full year as planned. Our electrified vehicles also performed particularly well in November, with sales increasing by 18.4% to reach a new all-time sales high. Last month, one in five BMW 5 Series Sedans was a plug-in hybrid.”
While the BMW brand itself has posted a marginal growth, its subsidiary British auto brand Mini has recorded 30,509 of sales in November 2019, down 6.8 per cent compared to the same month last year.
