The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) have agreed to strengthen collaboration aimed at enhancing transparency and driving economic growth in Nigeria.
The resolution was reached in Abuja during a courtesy visit by the Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NCC, Dr. Aminu Maida, to the Registrar-General/CEO of CAC, Hussaini Ishaq Magaji.
Speaking during the visit, Maida commended the CAC for its significant achievements, particularly in the area of digitisation. He expressed NCC’s readiness to leverage CAC’s experience to strengthen its operational processes, especially in licensing.
The NCC boss also emphasised the importance of ensuring that licensees comply with provisions of the Nigerian Communications Act, particularly regarding ownership and control of shares in their respective companies. He noted that closer collaboration with the CAC would enhance transparency and improve regulatory efficiency.
Responding, Magaji stated that both agencies share common goals of promoting economic growth and ensuring regulatory compliance. He added that, in line with the Renewed Hope Initiative of the current administration, the CAC has continued to partner with other regulatory bodies.
Magaji further highlighted several CAC products and services that the NCC could leverage to enhance its operations. He assured the NCC of the Commission’s willingness to support its initiatives, noting that such collaboration would ultimately strengthen the business environment and contribute to national economic development.
