The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), led by Governor Olayemi Cardoso, hosted the 35th Governing Board Meeting of the International Islamic Liquidity Management Corporation (IILM) for the first time in Nigeria at the CBN Headquarters, Abuja.
The meeting aligns with Governor Cardoso’s tenure as Chair of the IILM Governing Board, highlighting Nigeria’s growing influence in global Islamic finance and commitment to strengthening its non-interest financial markets.
Central banking leaders from Indonesia, Kuwait, Malaysia, Mauritius, Nigeria, Qatar, Türkiye, the UAE and the ICD gathered to assess 2025 performance and set strategic priorities for global liquidity management.
Under Nigeria’s 2025 Chairmanship, the IILM achieved significant progress including enhanced sukuk issuances, broader investor participation and stronger liquidity tools for Islamic financial institutions.
The CBN also hosted a capacity-building workshop on Islamic Liquidity Management for Nigeria’s non-interest banking subsector, boosting technical expertise and market development.
Nigeria reinforces its commitment to a more inclusive global financial system while boosting investor confidence in its expanding non-interest financial sector, by hosting this statutory meeting.
