The Nigeria Customs Service has intensified its engagement with excise traders and stakeholders as part of efforts to boost compliance and revenue generation.
On Thursday, April 9, 2026, the Assistant Comptroller-General in charge of Excise, Free Trade Zone and Industrial Incentives, Eghosa Joy Edelduok, led a delegation to meet with excise operators at the Operational Headquarters of the Oyo/Osun Area Command.
In her address, Edelduok acknowledged the critical role of excise factories in driving revenue for the Service, commending stakeholders for their level of compliance with existing regulations. She urged them to sustain their cooperation to enable the Service not only meet but surpass its revenue targets.
The Assistant Comptroller-General also lauded the Oyo/Osun Area Command for its strong performance, noting that it contributes about one-third of the Service’s total revenue. She charged officers overseeing excise factories to remain diligent and committed to achieving the Command’s targets for the year.
In his remarks, the Acting Customs Area Controller for the Oyo/Osun Area Command, Wale Moses Adewole, expressed appreciation to the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, and the management team for establishing a committee under Edelduok’s leadership.
Adewole described the initiative as a vital platform for engaging stakeholders, promoting compliance with excise regulations, and addressing operational challenges affecting their businesses.
The engagement concluded with an interactive session, where stakeholders sought clarifications on key issues and highlighted challenges impacting their operations. The Service, in response, assured them of continued collaboration and support.
The statement was signed by Abdulmalik Abiodun Akintola, Assistant Superintendent of Customs I and Public Relations Officer, Oyo/Osun Area Command.
