Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly, Mrs. Elizabeth Ativie, yesterday stepped down from her position to allow her Deputy, Dr. Justin Okonoboh assume house leadership.
18 out of the 24 members of the House supported the removal of Ativie before Okonoboh was sworn in immediately.
Ativie assumed office on May 3, 2016 following the impeachment of her predecessor, Victor Edoror.
A source explained that Ativie was removed to pave way for “equity and balane in the political equation of the state.
