Edo Forestry Commission Visits Okomu Oil

In line with its mission to regulate and enhance capacity in sustainable management and exploitation of forest and wildlife resources, the Chairman of the Edo State Forestry Commission, Valentine Owamagbe Asuen, on Thursday visited the Okomu Oil Palm Company PLC in Ovia South West Local Government Area of Edo State.
Asuen was received by the Managing Director of Okomu Oil Palm, Dr. Graham Hefer, who thanked the Chairman and his entourage for the visit.
During the meeting, discussions centered on key areas of preservation and protection of the Okomu Forest Reserve, actualization of biodiversity, stopping illegal logging, and other activities inimical to sustainable forestry practices.
Asuen assured the management of Okomu Oil of the support and readiness of the Edo State Government towards protecting forest reserves in the state and ensuring sustainable forestry practices.
A statement explained that the Chairman’s visit to Okomu Oil Palm Company PLC demonstrates the Edo State Forestry Commission’s commitment to partnering with stakeholders to promote sustainable forestry practices and conserve the state’s forest resources.
