The Nigeria Customs Service, Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone ‘C’, Owerri, has decorated 67 newly promoted officers.
Speaking at the event, Comptroller Bashir Balogun, the Comptroller of the Unit, congratulated the newly promoted officers, describing the ceremony as more than a routine exercise.
“Today, we celebrate not just promotions, but dedication, discipline, and excellence in service to the Nigeria Customs and our great nation,” he said.
He emphasised that promotion in the Service is a reward for loyalty, hard work, and commitment, while also serving as a call to higher standards of performance, integrity, and leadership.
“For those being decorated today, this recognition is a call to higher performance, integrity, and leadership. With promotion comes greater responsibilities and expectations. You must therefore uphold the core values of the Nigeria Customs Service hinged on integrity, transparency, and professionalism,” he added.
He urged the newly decorated officers to view their elevation as both a privilege and a challenge, while also acknowledging the crucial role of FOU Zone ‘C’ in strengthening anti-smuggling operations, revenue recovery, and trade facilitation nationwide.
Appreciating the support of families, friends, and colleagues of the officers, he noted that their sacrifices had contributed to the day’s success.
“I encourage all promoted officers to wear their new ranks with pride, humility, and renewed commitment to the Service and to Nigeria. And for those who didn’t get promoted, I urge you to be strong and prepare harder next time,” he said.
The Comptroller further expressed gratitude to the Comptroller General of Customs and the Management team for ensuring that merit and hard work were duly recognised.
