The Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, has paid a visit to Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, the first Chairman of the Federal Road Safety Corps.
The Corps Marshal explained that the meeting provided another opportunity to keep Professor Soyinka abreast of the progress the Corps has recorded over time.
He acknowledged the Professor’s pioneering role in laying the foundation for what has become a globally recognised road safety Agency, and how his enduring passion continues to inspire the Corps in its drive to reduce Road Traffic Crashes (RTC) across the country.
The visit also provided the Corps Marshal the opportunity to formally invite Professor Soyinka to the forthcoming Africa Conference on Road Traffic Crash Victims scheduled to hold in November 2025. He emphasised that the conference aims to galvanize continental action on issues of road safety, victims’ support, and strategies to end the scourge of road crashes. Professor Soyinka, while responding, expressed satisfaction with the Corps’ steady progress over the years and reaffirmed his interest in seeing the institution grow stronger in fulfilling its mandate of saving lives on Nigerian and African roads.
