Hyundai Motor India (HMI), which is celebrating its silver jubilee in India on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, inaugurated its new corporate headquarters in Gurgaon.
The new 10-storied headquarter in Gurgaon, which is Delhi-NCR’s IT belt, is a greenfield project spread across 28,000 sq.m. Work on this project commenced from February 2018.
Hyundai moved to this bigger and swankier new office earlier in April this year, which was a delayed start due to the intermittent construction inactivity due to Covid last year. It had its erstwhile corporate headquarters located in Jasola, New Delhi, which is now likely to be retained as the central regional office.
The new building stands tall alongside the Gurgaon-Jaipur highway (NH-8), adjacent to DLF’s World Tech Park.
The company says that the mega office is a green complex with open spaces with a massive vertical garden at the atrium and 14 EV chargers installed in the parking lot. The building is earthquake five-zone compliant too.
According to S S Kim, managing director, HMI, “We have developed this building as the ‘Centre of transformation’ with an aim to empower its workforce with a sense of limitless capabilities, so as to push them to achieve beyond boundaries.”
“From the acquisition of the land to the overall construction, it has been a huge investment into this new headquarters,” Kim added.
The company has acquired two plots in the area, with the office built up on 3 acres, while another adjacent building is expected to come up by 2023 and also house a brand experience centre. HMI has envisaged a total capex of around Rs 2,000 crore on both the buildings.
Other than R&D operations, for which it has an R&D standard in Hyderabad, the company has switched its entire key functions including sales, marketing, aftersales, finance and HR among others to this new location.
“Hyundai Motor India will work hand in hand with the government to ensure the prosperity of the Indian people,” Kim said.
Modern amenities such as high-end video conferencing systems are also in place to make coordination with the plant in Chennai, R&D centre in Hyderabad and with the parent organisation in South Korea.
According to Tarun Garg, director, sales, marketing and service, HMI, “This office is giving a new rush of positivity among employees. There are no more cabins and it’s a transformation from the earlier way of working and we are certain this will enable more innovative thinking and ideas.”
