The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) is seeking to strengthen its longstanding relationship with Deloitte West Africa through deeper collaboration in professional development, talent growth, knowledge sharing and thought leadership.
City Business News reports that the initiative was discussed during a courtesy visit by the 62nd President and Chairman of Council of ICAN, Hajia Queensley Sofuratu Seghosime, mni, MSc, FCA, to the Chief Executive Officer of Deloitte West Africa, Yomi Olugbenro, FCA.
Seghosime congratulated Olugbenro on his appointment and acknowledged Deloitte’s longstanding contributions to ICAN and the accountancy profession.
She highlighted the firm’s support for the Annual Accountants’ Conference, professional training programmes and recognition of examination excellence.
The ICAN President also proposed the establishment of a structured internship pathway for newly qualified Chartered Accountants, aimed at creating opportunities for practical experience and talent development.
She further called for continued collaboration ahead of the 56th Annual Accountants’ Conference, scheduled for October 18 to 23, 2026, in Abuja.
The ICAN delegation included the Vice President, Mazi Etofolam Felix Osuji, mni, M.Sc., DBA, FCA; 1st Deputy Vice President, Chief Oye Akinsulire, Ph.D., FCA; Council Members Dr. Oluwatobi Ayodele Abiola, mni, FCA; Mr. Michael Folusho Daudu, FCA; Dr. Sheriff Adeyemi Sanni, FCA; Mrs. Seun Ejodame, FCA; and Dr. Kingsley Ndubueze Ayozie, FCA.
Also on the delegation was the Registrar/Chief Executive of ICAN, Lanre Olasunkanmi, Ph.D., FCA.
The Institute said the engagement aligns with its “WE ARE ICAN” vision for the Presidential Year, emphasising partnerships designed to translate professional knowledge into opportunities, excellence and broader impact.
