The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has approved the appointment of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Nkechi Eze as the pioneer Director of the newly established Directorate of Force Medical Services.
A statement explained that the appointment follows the recent upgrade of the Force Medical Section to a full-fledged Directorate—an initiative aimed at institutionalizing comprehensive, accessible, and efficient healthcare services within the Nigeria Police Force.
AIG Nkechi Eze, a seasoned clinician, dental surgeon, and administrator, brings over 27 years of distinguished service to her new role. Born in Umuahia, Abia State, and a native of Agbudu in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State, she holds a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), Ile-Ife, and a Master’s degree in Public Health (MPH) from the University of Benin.
Throughout her career, AIG Eze has served across various police formations in Oyo, Ekiti, Rivers, the Federal Capital Territory, and Lagos, where she has made notable contributions to advancing healthcare delivery and promoting officers’ welfare.
While congratulating AIG Eze on her appointment, IGP Egbetokun urged her to deploy her vast experience and administrative expertise in repositioning the Directorate as a benchmark for excellence in police healthcare management.
He emphasized that the establishment of the Directorate represents a strategic investment in the health and productivity of police personnel, reiterating that the well-being of officers remains central to the operational efficiency of the Force.
