As part of measures to enhance capacity and development for professional drivers in the employment of the Lagos State Government, 80 drivers in the Public Service Office have been recertified by the Lagos State Driver’s Institute (LASDRI).
Addressing participants, the General Manager of the Institute, Mrs. Tiamiyu Afusat explained that the yearly training and recertification exercise resonates deeply with the THEMES Plus Agenda of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
According to the LASDRI boss, “Investing in driver education is not only teaching drivers how to operate a vehicle but instilling a sense of responsibility and awareness that extends to every decision they make on the road.
“These include understanding the effects of impaired driving, the importance of defensive driving techniques, and the need to respect the rights of other road users”.
Tiamiyu further explained that the recertification exercise would equip participants with in-depth knowledge of driving, skills and attitudes necessary to navigate roads responsibly, noting that a well-trained driver understands the importance of adhering to traffic laws, maintaining their vehicles and being aware of risks associated with driving. She said the initiative reflects the government’s shared vision of promoting professionalism, safety and efficiency among drivers in the employment of the Lagos State Government.
The General Manager averred that their participation in this yearly training signifies their commitment to excellence not only in their personal development but also in contributing to broader goals of sustainable transportation and road safety in our dear State, admonishing the participants to engage actively and share knowledge.
Tiamiyu added that the experience gained would not only benefit them as individuals but also have a positive impact on the lives of countless others who rely on their expertise and dedication.
