The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has reinstated its welfare airlift service to ease the burden on personnel deployed across various operational theatres, enabling them to reconnect more easily with their families. Approved by the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, the initiative reinforces the Service’s commitment to improving the welfare and emotional well-being of its personnel.
The renewed airlift arrangement provides regular, structured transportation for officers and airmen on deployment, reducing the challenges associated with long-distance travel and prolonged separation from loved ones. Already, the initiative is yielding positive results, offering relief from operational pressures and helping personnel maintain the psychological stability essential for sustained mission readiness.
According to the CAS, welfare-focused interventions such as the airlift service play a critical role in boosting morale, strengthening resilience and enhancing operational effectiveness. He stressed that emotionally balanced personnel are better positioned to deliver effective warfare outcomes in line with the NAF’s vision for smarter, more agile airpower projection.
By placing renewed emphasis on the well-being of frontline troops, the NAF has once again demonstrated that personnel welfare is central to mission success and the broader pursuit of national security.
