
The Management of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) on Tuesday received, on a courtesy visit, a team from Wakanow, led by its Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Mrs. Adenike Macaulay, at the Authority’s Corporate Headquarters in Abuja.
While welcoming the delegation, the Director-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Capt. Chris Najomo enunciated the importance of visa verification processes and full compliance with consumer protection obligations, reaffirming the Authority’s commitment to ease of doing business without compromising regulatory standards.
In his contribution, the Director of Public Affairs & Consumer Protection, Mr. Michael Achimugu, elaborated on the need for strict compliance with Part 19 of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations (Nig. CARs) 2023 as it relates to consumer protection, as well as the five-point agenda of the Hon. Minister of Aviation & Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo (SAN).
According to Mr. Achimugu, the timely resolution of passenger complaints is mandatory, and as such, the timeline for refunds and dispute resolution is 14 days.
The Director of Air Transport Regulation, Mrs. Olayinka Babaoye-Iriobe, commended Wakanow for its achievements so far and called for continued collaboration with the NCAA to foster a more resilient and accountable aviation ecosystem.
Earlier in her address, the MD/CEO of Wakanow, Mrs. Adenike Macaulay, while expressing concerns over passengers who book tickets without securing valid visas, only to be denied entry and returned, sought the cooperation of the Authority on data sharing, assuring the NCAA of the company’s commitment to addressing all identified issues and fully complying with regulatory requirements.
She was accompanied by Mr. Pius Ogbaje, Regional Director, Northern Zone, and Mrs. Folasayo Odia, Regional Manager, Northern Zone.
In attendance on behalf of the NCAA were the Special Adviser to the DGCA and Head of Flight Operations and Adjudication, Mrs. Ifueko Abdulmaleek; the Head of Protocol & Passages, Mr. Busari Taiwo; the Assistant General Manager, Public Relations, Mrs. Gloria Yavath; and other senior officials.
