The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Felix Omatsola Ogbe, on Thursday participated in the groundbreaking ceremony for the permanent shorebase facility of Esso Exploration & Production Nigeria Ltd at the Lagos Deep Offshore Logistics (LADOL) yard.
Representing the Executive Secretary, the Senior Technical Adviser (STA), Austin Uzoka, emphasized the critical role of sustained investment in infrastructure in deepening Nigeria’s local content drive.
He noted that projects such as the LADOL shorebase are essential to strengthening indigenous capacity and enhancing the competitiveness of the nation’s oil and gas industry.
Uzoka called on industry stakeholders to prioritise strategic partnerships and embrace direct equity participation in large-scale projects, warning against excessive dependence on debt financing.
He added that early expressions of interest from private investors and institutions reflect increasing confidence in the viability and long-term value of the LADOL initiative.
According to NCDMB, the groundbreaking ceremony reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to fostering local participation and building capacity across the oil and gas value chain.
Participants at the event expressed optimism that the shorebase project would spur innovation, create employment opportunities, and further position Nigeria as a leading hub for offshore logistics and industrial operations in the region.
