The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), in collaboration with Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL) and Tomba Resources Nigeria Limited (TRNL), has commenced the Nigerian Content Human Capacity Development (NC-HCD) Provision of Automated Crude Oil Storage Tanks Upgrade and Repair Services Training Programme in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
City Business News reports that the training programme is designed to equip Nigerian professionals with specialised technical skills required for the upgrade and repair of automated crude oil storage tanks, while strengthening indigenous participation in the nation’s oil and gas industry.
Delivering the keynote address on behalf of the Executive Secretary of NCDMB, Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, the Board’s General Manager, Human Capacity Development, Ms. Alexis Emelle, reaffirmed NCDMB’s commitment to building a highly skilled indigenous workforce capable of meeting the evolving demands of the oil and gas sector.
She encouraged participants to remain focused, disciplined and fully committed throughout the programme, urging them to maximise the opportunity to acquire industry-relevant technical competencies that would enhance their professional careers and contribute to national development.
Representatives of Chevron Nigeria Limited and Tomba Resources Nigeria Limited also reiterated their organisations’ commitment to human capacity development through sustained collaboration with NCDMB.
They noted that the initiative aligns with the provisions of the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development (NOGICD) Act by deepening local expertise, promoting technology transfer and increasing indigenous participation in specialised oil and gas operations.
The opening ceremony featured a technical overview of the training programme, an interactive session between facilitators and participants, as well as the signing of the NCDMB Code of Conduct, aimed at reinforcing professionalism, accountability and ethical standards among trainees.
The programme was subsequently declared open, marking the commencement of another strategic capacity development initiative by the Board to enhance Nigerian Content, strengthen in-country technical capabilities and support the sustainable growth of Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
