French automobile manufacturer Renault has earmarked three manufacturing and assembling factories for closure.

According to French media daily, the move comes as a core of the restructuring plan for the company with the intention to reduce fixed costs by €2 billion (£1.8bn).
According to the report, the carmaker’s Dieppe facility, which produces the Alpine A110 sports car, is in the firing line, along with the Choisy-le-Roi spare parts plant on the outskirts of Paris and the Fonderie de Bretagne engine-and-gearbox plant near Lorient.
Another facility at Flins, which makes the Nissan Micra under the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance will not close directly but it will not produce models beyond the current lifestyle, the report suggests.
However, along with these factory closures, the report reckons that models like Mégane hatchback, Koleos SUV and Talisman saloon could join the previously reported Espace and Scénic MPVs for the discontinuation.
