The Standards Organisation Organisation (SON) has warned indigenous manufacturing companies to adhere strictly to standards upon which they were issued Mandatory Conformity Assessment Programme (MANCAP) certificates.

Mr Olalekan Omoniyi, the Coordinator of SON in Anambra, gave the charge when he issued MANCAP certificates to Godwin Okafor and Sons Ltd. and Jezco Oil Nigeria Ltd., manufacturers of Winco Foam and Jezco Oil respectively in Awka on Thursday.

Omoniyi, while touring the companies, lauded the improvement in the production process of the companies and their technological process, noting that they had improved immensely.

He commended Nigerian companies for meeting up with the laid down industrial standards.

Omoniyi said that they could be great players in global markets, if they stuck to the standards that earned them the certificates.

“For Godwin Okafor and Sons, they have come a long way in the foam manufacturing industry, they have received MANCAP certificate before now, but we are here to recertify their products, having been able to uphold the standards.

“I am impressed with the improvement in their production process; before, they use to mix chemicals in drums, but here it is, the prices that guarantees quality of products and safety of workers,” he said.

Omoniyi also commended Jezco Oil for their full Synthetic Engine Oil 5W/30 API SN and Synthetic Engine Oil 5W/40 API SN ranges, which he said, were good for longer engine life.

He urged the awardee companies to inscribe their MANCAP logo on their products to prevent fakers from clooning their brands, threatening that lowering the quality of their products could lead to withdrawal of their certificates.

In her response, Mrs Anthonia Ezeh, General Manager of Jezco Oil Ltd., expressed satisfaction with the feat.

Ezeh said the company would continue to serve the Nigeria public with best quality products.nan
