FRSC Begins Special Patrol On Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has deployed Special and Regular Marshals on major highways and strategic locations in Ogun State to ensure free flow of traffic during Sallah. 

 The FRSC Unit Commander for Ota, Mr Akeem Ganiyu, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Ota, Ogun. 

 Ganiyu said the special patrol exercise, which commenced from April 29 to May 4, was to ensure accident-free festival. 

 “The exercise is aimed reducing road crashes, fatality rate and the number of injured victims in any crashes. 

 “In addition, the FRSC would be on ground to monitor and control traffic gridlocks and quickly respond to accident emergency as well as removing of breakdown vehicles”, he said.

 The unit commander appealed to motorists to obey all traffic rules and regulations, and cooperate with FRSC personnel so as to reduce the hours spent in traffic. 

 Ganiyu warned motorists driving from Lagos to Toll-Gate in Ajegunle, Ogun, to desist from driving against traffic to avoid unnecessary loss of lives during and after the Eid-el-Fitri celebration. 

 He said that the command had also embarked on public enlightenment campaigns to motor parks to educate drivers, passengers and other road users on the importance of safety measures. 

 The FRSC Commander implored motorists against drunk-driving and speeding to stem crashes during the Eid-el-Fitri festival, reiterating the commitment of the Corps to ensure passengers get to their destinations safely.
