Guaranty Trust Bank Ltd (GTBank), the flagship banking franchise of GTCO Plc, on Tuesday unveiled Quick Airtime Loan, an innovative digital solution designed to give customers instant access to airtime when they run out of call credit and have limited funds in their bank accounts.
In an era where constant connectivity is essential, running out of airtime can mean missed opportunities, disrupted plans, and lost connections. Quick Airtime Loan was created to address this challenge, offering eligible customers immediate access to airtime on credit directly from their bank accounts.
With the new service, customers can access airtime ranging from ₦100 up to ₦10,000 by simply dialing 73790#. The offering is available across all major mobile networks in Nigeria and is expected to expand soon to include data loans, further strengthening its value proposition as an on-demand digital solution.
For years, the airtime credit market has largely been dominated by telecommunications companies, with service charges averaging 15 per cent. GTBank is seeking to change that narrative by introducing a bank-led alternative priced at 2.95 per cent. The bank said the product is built on transparency, convenience, and affordability, with the potential to deliver meaningful cost savings for millions of Nigerians while redefining how financial services integrate into everyday life.
Commenting on the launch, the Managing Director of GTBank, Miriam Olusanya, said the product reflects the bank’s continued commitment to delivering digital solutions that are relevant and accessible.
“Quick Airtime Loan reflects GTBank’s continued focus on delivering digital solutions that are relevant, accessible, and built around real customer needs. The solution underscores the power of a connected financial ecosystem, combining GTBank’s digital reach and lending expertise with the capabilities of HabariPay to deliver a smooth, end-to-end experience. By leveraging unique strengths across the Group, we are able to accelerate innovation, strengthen execution, and deliver a more integrated customer experience across all our service channels,” she said.
The bank noted that the solution leverages HabariPay’s Squad platform, reinforcing the Group’s ecosystem strategy by integrating banking, payment technology, and digital channels into a seamless, customer-centric experience.
The launch of Quick Airtime Loan further extends GTBank’s track record of pioneering digital-first banking solutions. It builds on the success of its QuickCredit offering and the widespread adoption of its *737# USSD banking platform, as the lender continues to position itself at the forefront of digital innovation in Nigeria’s financial services industry.
