The Director General of the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), Mr Joseph Osanipin has paid an assessment visit to the NADDC Vehicle Emission Testing Centre, Ikorodu and the Automotive Training Centre situated at the Lagos State University for Science and Technology, Ikorodu, Lagos State.
Accompanied by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof Olumuyiwo Omotola Odusanya to the facilities, Osanipin expressed the councils readiness to partner with the University to put both centers to optimal use, the Director General further stated that the Council would also partner with the state government and other stakeholders to ensure sustainability of the projects.
“ The world class equipment we have here will make the students and the trainees to be on the same level with their counterparts across the globe, we will also take this Emission center as a priority project and make sure we put it into use, it will be a disservice to the nation if a state of the art facility like this is abandoned”.
In his response, the Vice Chancellor thanked the Council for citing the project in the University and expressed readiness to work closely with NADDC to achieve the objectives of these facilities.
Odusanya said “this project is an example that Nigeria is working and can indeed become a better place, the lives of Nigerians will be touched by this projects and I can assure you that this is huge success for the NADDC”.
The Test Centre upon completion would become an avenue for Nigeria to control carbon emission while the Automotive Training Centre is aimed at training Nigerians on Mechatronics and other Automotive related skills.
