The newly appointed Edo State Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Dr. Elizabeth Ebosele, has reaffirmed the ministry’s critical role in driving economic growth and sustainable development across the state.
Dr. Ebosele stated this during a meeting with management staff at the ministry’s headquarters, describing her appointment as both a call to service and a significant responsibility entrusted to her by the Executive Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo.
Expressing gratitude for the opportunity to serve, she pledged to provide purposeful leadership, foster teamwork, and ensure effective planning and budget implementation to advance Edo State’s economic transformation.
According to her, the months ahead are crucial as preparations for the 2026 budget year intensify. She expressed confidence in the capacity and readiness of the ministry’s management and staff to deliver.
“We have a lot of work ahead, but this is not new to us. I believe we are ready,” she said.
Earlier in his remarks, the Functioning Permanent Secretary, Mr. Kingsley Ogbodu, welcomed the Commissioner, describing her appointment as “a round peg in a round hole.” He assured her of the ministry’s full cooperation and commitment to achieving the administration’s five-point SHINE Agenda.
Dr. Ebosele’s assumption of duty was marked by a brief welcome ceremony and prayer session led by Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Chekwube, who prayed for wisdom, guidance, and success in her new role.
A statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the ministry, Daniel-Nwosu Nohunwan Lucy, noted that the Commissioner was later conducted on a guided tour of the ministry’s departments and offices by the Functioning Permanent Secretary and other directors.
The event was rounded off with the presentation of a congratulatory card to formally welcome the Honourable Commissioner, presented by Mr. Ogbodu on behalf of the management and staff of the ministry.
