The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has held a specialised Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Operations and Safety Programme aimed at enhancing the technical competence and safety awareness of its drivers.
The programme, which took place at the Bureau’s auditorium in Abuja, brought together NSIB drivers for a focused capacity-building initiative tailored to improve operational efficiency in the use of CNG-powered vehicles.
Facilitators from MAT Global Resources and Vehicle Systems led the sessions, delivering comprehensive training that covered practical, technical, and functional aspects of CNG vehicle operations. Participants were guided through critical areas including system architecture, safety protocols, routine maintenance procedures, and real-life operational scenarios.
The training featured interactive sessions, guided demonstrations, and hands-on exercises designed to reinforce both theoretical knowledge and practical application. This approach enabled participants to develop the necessary skills to operate CNG-powered buses with improved confidence, precision, and adherence to safety standards.
The initiative reflects NSIB’s continued commitment to strengthening safety education and professional development within the transport sector. It also aligns with broader national efforts to promote cleaner energy alternatives and expand the adoption of CNG as a viable fuel option.
By equipping its personnel with the required expertise, the Bureau is reinforcing best practices in safety management while supporting Nigeria’s transition towards more sustainable and environmentally friendly transport systems.
