The National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) in the company of Senate Committee on Industry, on Monday in Lagos continued their second phase of oversight visit to SIMBA GROUP, DANGOTE SINOTRUK and NORD Motors.
Following the facility tour, Vice Chairman of the Committee on Industry, Isah Shuaibu Lawal, representing Taraba North, emphasized that the oversight visit aimed to support the automotive industry, a vital sector of Nigeria’s economy.
“We are here to listen to their challenges and find lasting solutions, Most problems are solvable, but they require collaboration with NADDC’s Director-General, Mr. Joseph Osanipin, to develop legislation that reduces production costs and creates job opportunities for Nigerians.” Lawal stated.
The Senator acknowledged significant progress in backward integration, encouraging continued momentum to achieve the ultimate goal.
Also Speaking, the NADDC Director-General, Joseph Osanipin applauded the auto makers for their resilience, urging them to do more on local components incorporation for sustainable growth in the industry.
“We’re impressed with the progress and have offered targeted advice for improvement. We anticipate significant changes, increased local content and policy adjustments by next year. Some challenges require legislative solutions, policy revisions or innovative strategies” Osanipin remarked.
“Our expectations include boosting backward integration, local component contribution and job creation, ultimately stimulating economic growth through localized vehicle, tricycles and motorbike production”. he noted.
The Senate Committee on Industry and NADDC are working together tirelessly to address challenges and find lasting solutions for Nigerians Industrial growth through this oversight visit.
