Nigerdock Marks World Safety Day, Nears 20 Million Injury-Free Man-Hours

Nigerdock has commemorated the 2026 World Day for Safety and Health at Work with a town hall event aimed at recognising employees’ commitment to the company’s safety culture.
City Business News reports that the event coincided with the company’s 40th anniversary, highlighting four decades of operations and contributions to Nigeria’s industrial development.
Speaking during the event, the company’s General Manager, Operations, Simon Husband, said Nigerdock’s safety culture has been built over decades through strict adherence to global safety standards and operational protocols.
According to him, the commemoration reflects the company’s strong safety frameworks and alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals as well as the standards of the International Labour Organisation on healthy work environments.
He noted that the company remains focused on achieving more operational milestones while maintaining its commitment to workplace safety.
“Built over four decades, the company’s safety culture reflects a longstanding dedication to adhere to global safety standards and protocols,” he said.
“Our commemoration of World Day for Safety and Health at Work reflects our robust frameworks and alignment with the United Nations’ Sustainable Goals and the International Labour Organisation’s standards for healthy work environments. We have a bright outlook and remain well positioned to achieve more operational milestones, while ensuring no one gets hurt at work,” Husband added.
World Day for Safety and Health at Work is observed globally every April 28 to promote safe and healthy working conditions across industries.
Also speaking, the company’s Health, Safety and Environment Manager, Joseph Adejo, said safety remains central to the company’s operations and environmental practices.
He stated that Nigerdock is approaching a major safety milestone of 20 million man-hours without a lost-time injury.
“We believe strong company performance goes together with safe operations, responsible environmental practices, and respect for the communities where we operate,” Adejo said.
“Everyone at Nigerdock takes immense pride in always putting safety first in all our operations, as we approach a company-wide safety milestone of 20 million man-hours with zero lost-time injury,” he added.
